Tochu is developing silica sand resources in Japan and overseas to supply high-quality silica sand. The raw sand mined from each mine is firstly fed into the process plant to remove impurities. Then, such processed sand is separated into various sizes by the classifiers in order to meet all kinds of application needs.
Through the worldwide resources network and speedy production system with the newest technology, Tochu is in a position to supply sand to customers, the the necessary volume required, at anytime and anywhere.
Domestic Sand
Yunotsu silica sand mine owned by Tochu is located in Ohta city, Shimane prefecture and is the main source of domestic silica sand in Tochu group. This mine is one of the top-class silica sand mines in Japan in terms of quality and reserves. Yunotsu sand is excellent sand not only for Casting applications but also for Glass applications require high-quality silica sand.

Imported Sand
Compared to the restricted resources in Japan, there are still abundant silica sand resources in countries like Australia and South East Asia. Tochu has developed two silica sand mines in Australia through its subsidiary companies and is importing a variety of high-quality sand. These imported sands are promptly processed further at Tochu's plants in Japan to meet a wide range of needs from the industrial circles.

In Australia, the country has an abundant natural resource, touch keeps two sand resource areas, and produce sand in our factories with the latest production systems.
Albany sand, which is produced by AUSTAND MINING Company in west Australia, is the best one for casting because it can meet a wide range of size requirements from coarse sand to fine sand. In addition, there is another merit that has a high rate of SiO2, and extremely less the amount of impurity, thus it is suitable for high-quality glass. Recently, it is adapted for beach sports or horse racing dirt.
Kemerton silica sand, which is produced in KEMERTON SILICA SAND in West Australia, contains proper AL2O3 and K2O. Especially, it is suitable for Sheetglass and Bin glass. for meeting every customer's needs, we supply it from the south country. moreover, In Malaysia, we keep two sand resource areas, and both of us and local corporate companies develop and produce sand in our factories with the latest production systems.
TERENGGANU SILICA, which is produced in TERENGGANU SILICA CONSORTIUM, includes high purity silica, so it is suitable for building material, golf courses, and nonmetal fining.

- It is silica sand that contains the proper aluminous components. This sand is regarded as the standard material sand for Sheet glass and Bin glass. - It is the only domestic silica sand being mined by TOCHU. This sand has been supplied for more than 50 years to many industries such as Glass, Casting and Construction industries. This sand has historical record of very stable quality and supply.
- CERABEADS-X（CB-X)
- The structure of CERABEADS-X is a dense MULLITE crystal with excellent wear resistance, crush resistance, thermal shock resistance and excellent heat resistance due to its low impurity content. In addition, it works in additive molding machine (3D printer), due to it is spherical artificial sand which has excellent fluidity and the layering is stable.
